Queen’s Blade Rebellion Premium Visual Book – OVA 2 (NSFW)
You may remember I covered the first Queen’s Blade OVA premium book bundle back in December. In that review I stated I would pick up the second OVA if it contained an artbook with Rebellion characters. So guess why I have this. So it’s the same deal as last time, I’ll break the review into two parts. Artbook first, then OVA.
Left to Right: Artbook front cover, Housing box front, DVD front cover

This second OVA bundle is pretty much the same as the first one. One B6 hardback artbook with various illustrations, only this time it contains all Queen’s Blade Rebellion characters. And one DVD with a 20 minute OVA and 20 minute special. The OVA features Siggy and Ymir on their travels to Queen Claudettes capital of Gynos. The special is purely Siggy putting us through some rigorous training regime.
Left to Right: Artbook front cover, Housing box front, DVD front cover

Starting with the artbook then.
This one contains the same number of illustrations as the previous – 29. And as previously stated is purely Rebellion characters. Well Tomoe 2.0, Aldra 2.0 and Menace make an appearance I suppose, but for the most part it’s Rebellion characters. Some of the illustrations are simply Dakimakura covers, and if you’ve seen the Queen’s Rebellion: The Duel cards you may recognise a few others. So not really anything ‘new’ in the way of illustrations here.
These first two illustrations are by Eiwa, and as with the previous artbook we can expect to see a lot of them. On the left Annelotte looks great in her bikini. Now why couldn’t they have based the upcoming Hobby Japan exclusive Annelotte swimsuit figure on this illustration? Expect to see a lot of Annelotte dressed like this, the book is just filled with her and this blue bikini. Notice her scar as well, although I forget it’s significance now. If you know please remind me in the comments ^^. Annelotte looks the same in the right illustration, although we do get some Captain Liliana goodness. Unfortunately this is her only appearance in the book!
The illustration on the left is by F.S – the creator of Menace and a few other characters. This is his Rebellion character – LunaLuna. She looks a bit like Menace X Aldra what with that elephant trunk over her crotch and Egyptian style clothing. She’s got the same contract as Annelotte in this book so expect to see a lot of LunaLuna. The illustartion on the right features Vingt and LunaLuna by Keito Koume who you may know as the artist behind Spice and Wolf.
On the left we have Huit in a somewhat beat-up state, innocently clenching the key to control Vingt. Then there’s Vingt in the background with those menacing eyes, what’s going on here
. This illustration is again by Keito Koume. On the right we have the beautiful Tomoe 2.0. It’s weird, I never really liked Tomoe all that much in the anime but I simply love all the illustrations of her in the 2 books I’ve looked at. Tomoe 2.0 has been blinded by the Swamp Witch in the Rebellion story, hence the white eyes. If you haven’t already guessed Tomoe is illustrated here by Eiwa.
And finally onto my favourite illustration in the whole book. Ah no wait, first we have the left page. It features Mirim and Tomoe 2.0 and is by Tsurugi Hagane, the creator of Mirim. Now it’s time for my favourite. Tanyan and Sainyan on the right, illustrated by their creator Tomokazu Nakano. We don’t get to see a lot of Tanyan & Sainyan so seeing them both here, and in such a beautiful illustration, is a treat. Tanyan looks fantastic in her red bikini. If someone decided to make a figure of her based on this illustration I’d be very happy
.
There’s also 3 pages with text at the back of the book. Here’s the text if you can understand it.
This page contains some of the art assets used in the OVA.
Also included in the bundle is a flier for the Queen’s Blade The Conquest browser game. We’ve just missed the beta period, but these browser games are usually out really quick. So I don’t expect it to be long until we can try the final release. Although it is a browser game *rolls eyes*.

Next up then is the DVD. The 2nd OVA currently has no subs, that I’ve found anyway. So you’re going to get my interpretation of what’s going on.

The OVA starts out in a tavern. Some girls are bad mouthing some God, which is overheard by Siggy. Not one to allow such things pass Siggy enters religious zealot mode. Unfortunately just as she’s about to unleash the wrath of God she trips and her ass gets stuck in a stair railing.

Taking advantage of Siggys situation the girls prepare to finish her off only to be interrupted by Ymir who just happens to be in the same tavern. Ymir somehow causes them to scarper while leaving their weapons behind, which she happily takes the liberty to add to her inventory of weapons for sale.

Some talking goes down and both end up traveling together. Although it doesn’t look as though Ymir is too keen on having a crazy nun on board. So off they set on their journey together.

Along the road there appears to be a lot of commotion. A group of villagers are crowded round a sick or injured boy. Siggy whips out her staff, thrusts her butt in the boys face and proceeds to grinds on the staff. The grinding is so intense an immense amount of light is generated which shoots out her ass towards the sick boy. As if by magic the kid is cured… Yeah you just read that right.

The journey then continues into the night, taking them through a pitch black forest. A plea for help is heard – Ymir doesn’t seem too keen on helping, so Siggy runs off leaving her behind. However Ymir is a big chicken and scared of the dark so she runs after her.

Siggy finds some bandits who are in the middle of robbing a trader and goes about her preaching until Ymir catches up. Not being one to miss out on making a profit Ymir, instead of helping, tries to sell the bandits some of her weapons. They refuse and a fight breaks out. Needless to say Ymirs weapons are far superior and both Ymir & Siggy manage to destroy the bandits weapons.
Siggy is then left to defeat the remaining bandits, while Ymir all of sudden has stopped fighting and is instead selling her weapons to the bandits so they can continue to fight Siggy. Oh, and the trader who was being attacked by the bandits, he’s helping Ymir with the sales.
. Now with new weapons in hand the bandits increase the pressure on Siggy. Her weapon breaks and we get classic Queen’s Blade clothes rip – 12minutes in and it’s our first sight of breasts.

Siggy doesn’t take this violation kindly and proceeds to own the bandits without her weapon. Seeing they have little chance of winning two of the bandits decide to run away. However they are swiftly killed as they run round a corner. The killer? Well their leader of course, who also just happens to have brought an army with her.

Siggy isn’t too pleased with this and resorts to sitting on the ground trying to get herself off. However this time there’s no intense light to be found, looks like her God has abandoned her. The tables turn in the bandit leaders favour, and just as we seen earlier in the tavern Siggy is saved by Ymir. She jumps in with her excellent sales pitch and ends up selling the bandit leader the sword she obtained from the girls she chased back in the tavern.

Okay, so where were we before Ymirs interruption, oh yes, Siggy loosing. The bandit boss charges at Siggy with her new sword. In retaliation Siggy lifts her skirt and reflects the attack with an even more intense light than ever before. This results in the entire bandit army bowing down before her, and the bandit boss upside down with her clothes ripped.

The bandit boss tries her attack again, only this time ends up hugging Siggy instead. Aww.

The OVA finally leaves us with Siggy and Ymir arriving at Gynos and parting ways.

Siggy levels up and gets an equipment upgrade – Navy Blue bitches!

Also the bandits end up burning. Oh well.

As with the previous OVA here’s screen caps of some of the other Rebellion girls. They only get a few frames each.

Elina in her sexy new outfit. A huge improvement if you ask me. The feral look suits her much better. Plus she’s supposed to be more insane now that Leina has left her.

Little Mirim failing to control her crazy Chain Sword and vibration armour.

Branwen and her master. He also has control over Nowa now if I’m not mistaken. She failed to save Branwen from his clutches and ended up a slave herself. Poor Nowa
.

Annelotte, thought I might as well include her. She’s in her Rebellion outfit this time round, unlike the outfit she wore in her OVA.

Then we’ve got Ymir 2.0 in her weird pirate inspired black outfit. And her little chum Eilin. I don’t know much about Eilin since not a lot has been revealed about her.

Captain Liliana looking as sexy as ever. Nice up skirt shot there too.

And finally Aldra showing us her purple pants.
So in the end I can’t really say I enjoyed the OVA all that much. But then I wasn’t really expecting to enjoy it. I found Ymir to be rather dull, but then that could be because I don’t know what she’s saying. Siggy isn’t really my cup of tea. I never really liked Melpha and the Holy Poses, so having a different character take the Poses to another level hasn’t really changed my opinion. Maybe if I understood the story a bit more my opinion may change. Another reason I disliked the OVA is no Irma, not even a single frame
.
Oh yes, and the Special. It’s basically Siggy showing you how to grind on a staff, similar to Alleynes’ training video. Repeated frames on loop for 20 minutes. Again rather dull if you ask me.

To come to a conclusion then. It’s pretty much the same as the first OVA/artbook bundle. The artbook has some nice illustrations, my favourite being of Tanyan and Sainyan since we don’t get to see a lot of them. The artbook was a little disappointing in that it used Dakimakura images and other merchandise art works instead of full blown illustrations. The OVA was as I expected, not all that interesting. Maybe once we have subs to understand the story I might enjoy it a little more. The special was also not all that interesting. If you’re a huge Siggy fan you might enjoy it. But since I’m not one of them it was very dull to watch. If you’re interested in picking this OVA bundle up most places still have it in stock – Hobby Search, amiami, Hobby Link Japan etc.
I’ve also picked up my first Queen’s Blade Battle book – Kanu Queen’s Gate. I might show her off sometime, although scans have already surfaced which will be far superior to anything I can output. In terms of upcoming figure reviews I’m hoping to review the figure I mentioned in my Arsene review this month as well. I’ve been putting her off for ages now, she’s been sitting out her box on my desk for over a month now. So expect to see something within the next 2 weeks (see that, a self imposed deadline
). Her cast-off comes with blue-prints for the Eiffel Tower so that should be amusing to attempt.

My two favourite illustrations from the artbook are the one of Huit and the one with Mirim and Tomoe. I prefer characters that aren’t super large-chested.
The first scene you described in the OVA made me laugh, getting your ass stuck in the stair railing sounds ridiculous. Then I read the part about healing the boy… I can’t believe there’s a training video on that. I thought the Training with Hinako videos were as bad as anime could get, but 20 minutes grinding a staff seems even more unnecessary.
There are a few other Huit illustrations in the book, but the one I’ve shown is probably my favourite one featuring her. Mirim is really cute too, it’s a shame she doesn’t get a lot of coverage in this artbook. There’s a load of Queen’s Blade Rebellion character promos being streamed during the run up to the April anime launch date. Mirim just had hers ^^.
Subs are out now for this OVA and unfortunately my synopsis of the boy healing scene was correct. Although I kind of didn’t mind Siggy as much as I thought I would having read the subs. It gives a better understanding of what she’s saying and helped alleviate some disdain I felt towards her. Urgh, the special really isn’t my thing either. If I was crazy about Siggy then maybe I’d enjoy it, but saying that I didn’t really like Alleynes’ special from the first OVA bundle.
*lol* after reading your post, it seems that I liked the included stuff more than you did.
The artbook looks a bit better than the last one, seems like it has some more nice illustrations. If they had just erased the hideous thing during the character creation LunaLuna would look a lot better.
I haven’t seen the new Ova yet, but Im looking forward to, even though I might not like Siggy.
Im always enjoying to watch Queen’s blade related anime, its always funny, ecchi and nicely animated.
Haha, oh no I do like the included goodies. I think I prefer the first OVA bundles’ DVD and the second OVA bundles’ artbook. The first OVA featured characters I liked so that was interesting to watch, and the second artbook featured some nice Rebellion character illustrations.
Heh, they needed to keep Aldras’ hidden blade going in some form, so why not an elephant trunk
.
Dunno if you’ve seen it yet, but subs are out now. After being able to understand what Siggy is doing better I found I didn’t dislike her as much as I was expecting. She’s still not a favourite of mine but at least I know what she’s all about now (burning folks xD).
Queen’s Blade is great fun. The animation quality really has improved since the first season. Going back and watching the first (and second to an extent) season you notice just how much extra work they’ve put into animating these recent OVAs. And I’d also say the story telling is much more solid in these OVAs, that or I’m getting better at filling in the gaps. Hopefully they can maintain this standard in the April anime release.
M-Must resist…. shit, blood is dripping from my nose…. X_X
The artbook is a nice addition to the premium bundle. Personally, I prefer artbooks over OSTs, not to mention this particular one is hard-covered, now that’s badass. LunaLuna looks gorgeous, I love characters with tanned skin tone
Looking at the screen caps, the OVA seems to offer even more fanservice than episodes from the first season.
Agreed the artbook is a really nice addition. I’d have a hard time convincing myself to import a 20 minute OVA I can’t understand without some other sort of incentive. I doubt I’d ever bother picking up an OST, so yeah artbooks are much more enjoyable. Fun fact, I’ve never bought/downloaded a music CD / mp3 / anything of the like, in my life. And I don’t see any reason to break that combo anytime soon
.
Tanned skin characters are nice, I totally agree. Gah if only a certain tanned skin character from the original Queen’s Blade cast would get a figure ><. Hmm, fanservice wise it's hard to say. Personally I'd say this particular OVA wasn't too heavy fanservice wise, but then because I was rolling my eyes at Siggy grinding on a pole, or getting her ass stuck in a railing it probably didn't register as such.
