Choun Shiryu Marvelous Model by Zigz Toys (Warning NSFW: +18)

Here’s the recent addition to my collection, Choun Shiryu (Sei) from the Koihime Musou series. This figure is manufactured by a new company Zigz Toys.

Koihime Musou is a visual novel based loosely on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. Sei is part of the Shoku faction(army?) in the VN. In the anime she joins up with Kanu and her party as they travel round helping people. She acts mainly as comic relief in the anime series, embarrassing Kanu usually. She is one of my all time favourite anime characters; and I already own another figure of her.

Manga Gamer have announced they are translating the original Koihime Musou Visual Novel, and I can’t wait for it to be ready.

This figure was originally announced by Pleasant Angels towards the start of ’09. But for some reason she vanished from their website. Then back around July she reappeared under the new company “Zigz Toys”. Found here. Sei is Zigz Toys first figure, so I was a bit concerned about how she would turn out.

Sei is a PVC 1/8 scale. I had mine pre-ordered at Hobby Search so I had to pay a little more, but she is worth it. She is also cast-off-able.

Some shots of the box. Not very detailed, and it alludes to the fact you can cast-off. Normally there’s a triangle with “18″ in it, but there’s nothing on the sides. Under the box is a “15″ though.

All the different bits wrapped up nicely. There was no protective plastic under her dress that you normally get with cast-off figures.

She feels very fragile. Just moving her around I have been very careful not to get various parts caught on each other. (Unrelated: I broke on of Rens’ antenna earlier this week ). When attaching her to the base you insert the pegs at an angle. She looks kind of wobbly on that leg; please don’t bend. Her whole body is at a slant as well. Action pose, and probably to distribute the weight.

Not the most exciting face. She looks kind of blank, staring into nothing with her mouth open. Still this face is more accurate than the Pleasant Angels Sei.

To make her hold her weapon you pull it in to 3 pieces. The purple handle, gold handle, & spear head. Then just slide them through her hands and reassemble. Again this feels really delicate and I’ve been as careful as I can trying not to bend the parts.

You also get an optional butterfly mask. This is stuck to another set of “hair”. You simple pull the hair forward and attach the hair with mask by lining up 2 pegs. The mask doesn’t quite line up when you look at her from above, but from this angle she looks fine.

Now for the cast off. Her dress simple unpegs at the side and slides off as seen here. Getting that dress off though is not easy. You almost have to turn it inside out.

Dunno what it is, but she doesn’t look right cast off. Long body maybe?

I got a bit of purple paint transfering when taking her dress off .

There is no crotch detail on this figure, unlike the other Sei figure by Pleasant Angels.

Overall I really like this figure, mainly because I like the character . She feels really delicate to handle, and I really hope I don’t have problems with her leaning in the future. If you are after a Sei figure I recommend this one over the Pleasant Angels version. The cast-off “feature” is also a nice extra, although I prefer her outfit on a lot more .
